Bahram Bajelan is recognized as one of the most popular singers in Iran and a master of Persian classical repertoires. He grew up in a musical family and has devoted his life to traditional Persian music and literature. He has extensive credits performing with such legendary artists as Grand Masters Jalil Shanaz, Faramarz Payvar, and Ali Asghar Bahari among others. Bajelan began his musical studies under the direction of his uncle, Bagher Khan Bajelan. He continued his studies in regional music; especially from his native land Lorestan, with his father Aboulhassan Khan Bajelan. He was then inspired to learn to sing the poetic words of the Shahnameh (the book of kings), considered the masterpiece of Persian Literature. Bajelan received his formal vocal education with master Shahram Nazeri. He completed the Persian repertoire under supervision of master Nasrolallah Nassehpour. In addition to studying vocal Radif of Persian Classical music, Bajelan continued studying the Old Songs (tasnifs) with late Grand Master Ali Asghar Bahari, master Abdoulvahab Shahidi, and master Hushang Zarif. Grand Master Bahari passed on to Bajelan his own interpretation of the Radif. Bajelan continued and perfected his knowledge of Radif and the School of Esfahan with the highly precise teachings of the late Grand Master Hossein Omoumi. He studied the singing technique of Persian masters such as the Seyed Rahim, Haje Agha Sader, and Adeib Khansari with Master Omoumi. Bajelan has a deep passion for Persian Literature. He studied the compositional form of Persian poems and music with masters Hushang Ebtehaj, and Fereidoun Moushiri. He has been playing the Setar since 1983, in order to better understand, compose and perform traditional Persian repertoire. Bajelan studied music theory under the supervision of masters Mohammad Reza Lotfi and Hossein Alizadeh. He has been an active singer for over thirty years, working at the National Iranian Radio and Television, teaching, researching, composing and performing numerous concerts. Bajelan was deeply inspired by the master vocalist Seyed Hossein Taherzadeh and researched his style of singing for several years. He migrated to Sweden in 2000. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia and has appeared on many radio and television programs around the world. His most recent recordings are "Soroshe Bahar" by Faramaz Payvar, "Cheshme Saaran" by Hossein Farhadpour, "Monese Jan" by Jamshid Andalibi, and "Sarv o Mah" by Ata Jangouk. He composed the music for "Babouneh Khanoum" with Dena Bajelan.
Currently he lives in Sweden where he teaches Persian Classical vocal Radif at the Royal Music School of Stockholm.
